What we do
Birdcage scaffolding.
Halls, churches and ceiling access. A level working platform across the whole floor area.

A birdcage is what you build when the work is above you and it is everywhere. Rather than a platform against one wall, it is a grid of standards across the whole floor, boarded out into one level deck at working height.
Church naves are the classic case, and West Cumbria has plenty of them. Village halls, school assembly halls and function rooms come up just as often, usually for ceiling repairs, lime plaster, lighting or heating work.
The floor is normally the sensitive part. Encaustic tiles, boards and memorial slabs all need spreading loads and protecting before the first standard goes down.
What's included.
- Full-area boarded platforms at whatever working height the job needs
- Sole boards and load spreading to protect tiled, timber and stone floors
- Access stairs or tied ladder access up to the deck
- Edge protection where the deck meets a gallery, balcony or stairwell
- Phased build where the room has to stay partly in use
- Out-of-hours erection around services, concerts and school terms
How we stay compliant.
- Loadings calculated for the deck duty required, not assumed
- Floor protection agreed with the building owner before we start
- TG20:21 compliant, CISRS operatives
- Weekly inspections while the platform is in use
- Handover certificate before anyone works off the deck
