Where we work

Scaffolding in Cleator Moor.

Terraced stock.

Scaffold standards against a blue-painted gable, boarded lift running above a yard.

Cleator Moor was built quickly and densely for the iron ore mines, and the terraces that went up then are still most of the town. Rows off The Square, long runs with shared gutters and party walls, and in a lot of cases no back lane at all.

That makes the logistics as important as the scaffold. If there is no rear access, everything goes up the front, which means the pavement, the neighbours and where the wagon stops are all part of the job rather than details.

Roof work and re-rendering are the bread and butter here. Terraces share gutters, so one house needing a roof often turns into a conversation with next door, and we would rather have that conversation before we start than halfway through.

What we deal with in Cleator Moor.

  • Long terraced runs with shared gutters and party walls
  • Frequently no rear access — everything works off the front
  • Narrow pavements that still have to stay walkable
  • Neighbouring properties within a couple of feet of the work
  • Roofing, re-rendering and chimney work as the common jobs
