Safety

The paperwork is the job.

Anyone can put tube up. Being able to show it was designed, inspected and signed off is what separates a scaffold from a pile of steel leaning on a house.

Scaffold to a blue-rendered house running up to the chimney, banner on the top lift.

Scaffolding is one of the few trades where the thing that keeps people alive is invisible in the finished article. A tie you cannot see from the pavement, a brace that went in with the lift rather than after it, a guardrail that was on before anyone stepped out onto the boards.

None of that is optional and none of it is a selling point. It is the baseline. What follows is simply what we do on every job, from a chimney on a terrace to a full elevation on a street that has to stay open.

What we work to

Three documents, one standard.

  • CISRS

    Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme

The card scheme that says a scaffolder has been trained and assessed for the work they are doing. Cards are on the job and available for you to check on arrival.

  • TG20:21

NASC technical guidance for tube-and-fitting scaffolding

The current guidance for tube-and-fitting scaffolds. Standard configurations get a compliance sheet. Anything outside it gets a drawing and calculations before it goes up.

  • BS EN 12811

The European standard for temporary works equipment

What a designed scaffold is calculated against when the job falls outside the guidance — loadings, deflection and the wind exposure at that specific address.

These are independent organisations. We follow their guidance and hold what we say we hold; we do not speak for them, and their marks are not reproduced on this site.

The routine

What happens on every job.

Before the wagon leaves

  • Site-specific RAMS written for the job, not lifted from a template
  • Design and calculations where the scaffold falls outside TG20:21
  • Permits, inductions and pavement licences arranged in advance

While it is up

  • Handover certificate before anyone works from the structure
  • Inspection every seven days, recorded and sent to whoever is running the job
  • An extra inspection after any named storm, impact or alteration
  • Scafftag at the access point so nobody has to guess

When it changes

  • No alteration by anyone other than our own operatives
  • Re-inspection and a fresh certificate after every alteration
  • Design re-issued before the change is made, never afterwards

Cover.

The company is fully insured, with public liability cover of £10m. Certificates are available on request before you appoint us, rather than after something has happened.
