25+ years on the tools
A new firm. Not a new scaffolder.
West Coast Scaffolding is a new company run by someone who has spent 25+ years on the tools, working for homeowners and local builders across West Cumbria. The business is young. The hands are not.

There is a particular kind of firm worth hiring: one where the person who quotes the job is the person who builds it, and he has done it for long enough to have seen it go wrong. That is what this is — one experienced scaffolder, his own name on the van, and no layer of office between you and the work.
Most of what we do is houses and the trades who work on them. Roofers who need edge protection by Monday. Renderers who need a full elevation at working height. Homeowners who have had a slate come off and want to know what it costs before they commit to anything.
25+ years on this coast teaches you things a qualification does not. Which streets you cannot get a wagon down. Which render will not take a fixing. What the wind does to a sheeted elevation in February, and why the tie you skipped is always the one that matters.
Starting a company does not change any of that. It just means the standard is set by the person doing the work.
How the work gets done
Four things we do not cut.
Tied, not just stood up
Ties go in on a schedule as the lifts rise, not bolted on at the end because someone noticed. On a coast like this that is the difference between a scaffold and a sail.
TG20:21 on every job
Compliant designs as standard. Anything outside the guidance gets drawn and calculated before it goes up, not decided halfway.
The same hands back
The person who quotes your job is the person who builds it, and the person who comes back to alter it already knows the building.
Paperwork before the wagon
RAMS, handover certificates and weekly inspections, filed and sent. Site managers stop chasing for it, which is the point.
Standards.
Tube-and-fitting on every job, erected to TG20:21. Anything outside the guidance is designed and calculated first. Every scaffold is handed over with a certificate and inspected while it is up.
The company is fully insured. Certificates are available before you appoint us rather than after something has happened.

Where we work.
Across West Cumbria — the coastal towns, the villages behind them, and inland where the job is worth the travel. Householders, landlords, and the builders, roofers and renderers who work on them. If you are not sure whether you are in the patch, ring and ask.
Being small has one real advantage: there is no depot rota to wait for. When a gale takes a roof off overnight, you are ringing the person who will be there.
